Who Is Belle?

Belle is a woman, a birth feminist, a wife, and mother to two amazing little people. Her passion and life’s work is photography.

Belle’s heart is never happier than when she is photographing births, breastfeeding mamas and loving families.

Her work is more than “work”. It is a personal passion due to Belle’s strong belief in showcasing the beauty of birth and life. The hope Belle has is that her work can help to change the world, even just a little, through normalisation of birth practices, breastfeeding and natural parenting. Documenting the exquisiteness of birth helps to shine a light on modern birthing practices and allows women to see birth as being a magnificent act of raw strength and beauty, rather than something to be feared.

Why Birth Photography?

Belle specialises in birth photography because she wants to be able to give parents what she missed out on. Reflecting on the few blurry photos of her own children's births, Belle always thinks, "I wish I had a birth photographer".

The birth of your baby is likely to be one of the most important events in your life. Those precious moments of your baby's journey into this world can be captured forever and cherished as your little one grows, to keep for private family viewing, or to share far and wide.

One of the things that really drew Belle to photograph births was her own HBAC (home birth after caesarean) in 2011. After her amazing experience, she had a newfound respect for birth attendants and found that not only had she fallen deeply in love with her new baby, she discovered she was in love with BIRTH itself!

Belle’s passion and respect for birth are what drives her to document births, her admiration and love for the sacred act of birth, wherever it is and however it goes, is what makes her such a dedicated and humble birth photographer.

If a photographer cares about the people before the lens and is compassionate, much is given. It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.
