About ME

Mama Bear, Wifey and Vintage Enthusiast

First and foremost, I love hanging out with my super hunk of a hubby and our two free range kidlets - being a busy mama, working in an office job 2 days a week and running my own photography business, I don't get much downtime!!! Our favourite thing to do is to visit our local beach with a gigantic shovel and dig the biggest swimming hole you will ever see - it's a bit of draw card for other kids who gravitate towards us. My other love is music so the record player is always on in the home. I'm a swing dancing, mustard coloured wearing lover of vintage everything. If this resonates with you, I think we may just get along.

Why Birth Photography?

I specialise in birth photography because I want to be able to give parents what I missed out on. Reflecting on the few blurry photos of my own children's births, I always wish I'd had a birth photographer.

The birth of your baby is likely to be one of the most important events in your life. Those precious moments of your baby's journey into this world can be captured forever and cherished as your little one grows, to keep for private family viewing, or to share far and wide.

One of the things that really drew me to photograph births was my own HBAC (home birth after caesarean) in 2011. After my amazing experience, I had a new respect for birth professionals and found that not only had I fallen deeply in love with my new baby, I discovered that I was in love with BIRTH itself!

My passion and respect for birth are what drives me to document births, my admiration and love for the sacred act of birth, wherever it is and however it goes. I am a storyteller and when you hire me for your incredible birthing day, I capture the story of your baby's birth day whether you have a scheduled caesarean or free birth in the middle of the forest, I am there to document your journey and provide you with an invaluable gift of those priceless memories. As you can probably tell I am so passionate about being a birth photographer here in Perth and if you contact me early enough, I may travel interstate for your birth.

Current Projects & Exhibitions

I love to have a zillion things going on at once! An affinity for beautiful tattoos has led me to the Heart on My Sleeve Project, documenting inked families.

The first of its kind in Perth, my birth photography exhibition, The Art of Birth was held on 10th September 2016 with plans for more exhibitions in the future!

You can currently see my work exhibited at My Midwives PerthThe BumpWA, Perth Pregnancy Centre and Conscious Birth and Parenting Centre, Fremantle International Portrait Prize Retrospective and in Juniper Hall in Sydney as a finalist in the 2016 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize.

I'm also keen to collaborate with like minded creative peeps, so if you have something you wish to chat to me about please get in touch!

Here's a little video of me in action - Thanks for dropping by

If a photographer cares about the people before the lens and is compassionate, much is given. It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.
